The biggest lottery win in American history came courtesy of the Powerball Lotto in February of 2006. A single ticket bought by eight workers in a Nebraska meatpacking plant won the jackpot and changed eight lives forever. They won $365 million dollars.
The eight winners were workers at the ConAgra ham processing plant in Nebraska. Three of the winners were immigrants who never imagined they would become millionaires by chance after leaving their home countries behind. Two of them hailed from Vietnam and one came from the Congo, a troubled country plagued by poverty.
The winners decided to take their winnings at once and each took home over $15.5 million dollars. Surprisingly, only three of the eight chose to quit their job after becoming overnight millionaires.
